Minimum Wage in Kentucky

The minimum wage law in Kentucky was amended on June 26, 2007.

According to K.R.S. 337.275, in general, and except as otherwise be provided by the minimum wage law chapter, every employer must  pay minimum wages at the following rates:

$5.85 – Beginning June 26, 2007
$6.55 – Beginning July 1, 2008
$7.25 – Beginning July 1, 2009

These rates are the same as the federal minimum wage, although the federal rates change on July 24th of each year.  If the federal minimum hourly wage is subsequently increased in excess of these amounts, then Kentucky’s minimum hourly wage under this subsection of the statute will be increased to the same amount, and become effective on the same date as the federal minimum hourly wage rate.
